Wellies are nothing new. Actually, they are very old. 1850′s old. Trendy, Preppy, Utilitarian, Sloanie … that’s recently, but, did you know …
Wellies got their name from the First Duke of Wellington. He instructed his shoemaker, Hoby of St. James’ Street in London, to modify the 18th century Hessian Boot. They became quite fashionable amongst the best circles in London and they still are.
Do you own a pair of Wellies? Don’t deprive yourself, your partner or your children. They make wellies for everyone. Actually, they come in all colors and patterns today and are made by a variety of manufacturers, from Hunter, Aigle, Evercreature, Land’s End, and Le Chameau. The quality seems to be very good to amazing, so you won’t be disappointed no matter which brand you decide upon.
