I’ve just returned from Orlando, Florida where I did “live” mixology for Rudo Tecnico Tequila, Arrogante Tequila and Bear Force Vodka.  The event was called the WSWA and quite simply, this is the largest wholesale liquor sales show in the country.  It was held this year at both the JW Marriot Hotel and the Ritz-Carleton Hotels.  Both highly rated properties with friendly, helpful staff and a can-do attitude to all questions and requests.

Rudo & Tecnico – Spectacular Tequila Elaborated – 100% Blue Agave

Good show.

I am the Master Mixologist for Double Eagle Imports who brings these expressive liquors up from Mexico and the vodka from Russia.  In keeping with the theme of Cinco de Mayo, (the fifth of May-the day of Mexican Independence) I’ve created three expressive cocktails using mostly easy to find ingredients.  If you cannot find the Bitter End Bitters, I suggest using Angostura.  If you cannot find  Royal Rose Syrups, order some or go over to Williams-Sonoma, they carry several of these all-natural, hand-made simple syrups.  It’s worth it to me to use the very best in my cocktails.  I also must add that your ice should be made with filtered water for clarity and flavor.  I use the Mavea “Inspired Water” filtration pitcher and beg you to try one out for your cocktail ice.  This very sensual designed water pitcher from Germany features a fully recyclable filter, the only one of its kind on the market.   It’s well manufactured and the water really does freeze nearly clear.  My anticipation is that you’re on the way to your local Williams-Sonoma right now to get these ingredients.

THREE COCKTAILS WITH TEQUILA

Héroes del Ring Cocktail for Arrogante Reposado Tequila

Makes two cocktails that will have you in the ring flying like a Luce Libre wrestler!

Ingredients:

  • 4 oz. Arrogante Reposado
  • 1/2  oz. Royal Rose Simple Syrup of Saffron
  • 1/2  oz Agave Syrup
  • 1/2 of a  fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 of a fresh orange juice
  • 1/4 of a fresh lemon juice
  • Grapefruit zest
  • 6 drops Bitter End Mexican Mole Bitters
  • Splash of Perrier Sparkling Natural Mineral Water  (Pink Grapefruit Flavor)

Preparation:

To a Boston Shaker:

  • Fill 3/4 with regular bar ice
  • add all liquid ingredients except for the Perrier Sparking Natural Mineral Water
  • Shake for 15 seconds
  • Pour into a Collins glass with your specially made “Inspired Water” Mavea ice infused with lime zest (zest a lime over the top of an ice cube tray filled with Mavea filtered water)
  • (essential) Add a splash or two of the Perrier Pink Grapefruit Sparkling Water to finish
  • Garnish with a LONG zest of grapefruit

 

Luchas de Apuestas Cocktail for Rudo Blanco Tequila

Ingredients for two cocktails

  • 4 oz. Rudo Blanco
  • 2 oz. fresh lime juice
  • 2 oz. fresh lemon juice
  • 2 oz Royal Rose Simple Syrup of Strawberry and Fennel
  • 3 Tablespoons grilled pineapple- crushed  (grill pineapple slices over charcoal until charred or sear in a pan on the stovetop)
  • 2 oz. Perrier Sparkling Natural Mineral Water (Lemon)
  • 6 drops Bitter End Mexican Mole Bitters
  • Ice made from “Inspired Water” run through a Mavea Inspired Water pitcher infused with Driscoll’s Strawberries (chop strawberries into a fine dice and freeze in “inspired water” ice)

Preparation:

To a Boston Shaker add bar ice to 3/4 full

  • Add the liquid ingredients including the grilled pineapple
  • Shake for 15 seconds
  • Add one or two Mavea infused ice cubes to old fashioned glasses
  • Add 1 oz. in each glass of the Perrier Sparkling Natural Mineral Water to finish
  • Garnish with a chunk of grilled pineapple

 

El Gran Luchadores for Tecnico Anejo

Ingredients for two cocktails that will plaster a smile on your face

Ingredients.

  • 4 oz. Tecnico Anejo
  • 2 oz. Grilled grapefruit juice (grill thick slices of grapefruit over charcoal then juice)
  • 1 oz. fresh orange juice
  • 1 oz. fresh lime juice
  • 2 oz. Agave Nectar
  • 6 drops Bitter End Mexican Mole Bitters
  • 2 oz. Perrier Sparkling Natural Mineral Water in Lemon Flavor Mavea ” Inspired Water” frozen with grapefruit zest added before freezing

Preparation:

Fill a Boston Shaker 3/4 with regular bar ice

  • Add all liquid ingredients EXCEPT for the Perrier Sparkling Water that goes in at the end
  • Shake for 15 seconds
  • Add Grapefruit zest infused ice to a couple of Rocks glasses
  • Pour the cocktail over the Mavea “Inspired Water” infused ice and add about 1 oz. of the Perrier Natural Sparkling Mineral Water over the top of each cocktail
