Click to follow our Pinterest board for ideas on decorating, food, home and patriotism!
Red, White and Blue are the main colors for summertime decorating in the USA basically because we start with Memorial Day next weekend and the Fourth of July follows only 6 weeks later! Hit two birds with one stone here and make your decorations for both events.
Magazine stylist, Karin Lidbeck did it again with these fabulous and simple to make decorating ideas! Karin pulls easy to find materials from craft and floral supply stores and creates decorations you can do yourself! Your party can look like it jumped off the pages of a magazine, too! Visit Karin at her own site, Your Cozy Home, for some of the best ideas online!
ALSO – we also would like to invite you to follow and/or join our pin board, A Glorious Fourth and US Patriotism – it is an amazing board with almost 500 really great pinners contributing! Join us!
The Nautical Patriot
Lanterns lining the middle of the table with rope weaving about them give a soft glow to the evening. Get these lanterns from Pottery Barn (click here) and the rope at the hardware store or the real deal at: KnotandRope.com or WestMarine.com. Roll white napkins up with an American flag as the napkin ‘ring’ and dot the table with small bottles of flowers with a Flag in them! photo credit: Better Homes & Gardens
Welcome Red, White & Blue
The Front Door: Buy a bag of small flags from Oriental Trading – click here: (144 pieces for $4.50!) and place them in the same direction on a Styrofoam wreath (from any craft store). The larger flags are simply attached to a line of string with mini wooden clothespins from Oriental Trading!!! (great look!) and uses as a garland!
Jazzing it up with Crete Paper
Dressing a White Tablecloth with crepe paper ribbon streamers takes your Memorial Day table from plain to festive! Simply weave it (as shown) on each end of the table and perhaps in the middle, too. Get your crepe paper over at Party City (click)
Red, White and Blue Centerpiece for inside or out
Make this super easy centerpiece or two large ones to flank your front door or put outside near your entertaining space! Get three descending sized clay pots and place large blocks of oasis (get at any floral supply or craft store) and follow instructions on soaking the blocks. The wet oasis will keep the cut flowers moist and in position for a while. Stack each pot on top of each other. Position the flags all around putting the sticks into the oasis and fill in with blue Hydrangeas or the large flowers of your choice!
