Summer in the USA starts, peaks and ends with national holidays. Memorial Day is when we thank all of those troops who have served to keep us safe and is the official welcome to summer, the Fourth celebrates the birth of this great country and marks the middle of summer and Labor Day gives thanks to those who have worked to build this country to what it is today and unfortunately is the official end of summer. After that first Monday in September it’s back to the old grind.
It is no wonder that the most popular colors for outdoor decorating are red, white and blue. They will take you through all three months of the height of our outdoor living season including all the American holidays.
So when I wanted to find the best furniture and entertaining pieces for the summer and the Glorious Fourth, I turned to Plow & Hearth, one of my favorite go-to places for quality furniture made by an all American company who not only respects the environment, but has gone out of their way to manufacture responsibly with so many of their products.
Rule # 1
Set the Stage for the Fourth!
Entertaining or not, I like to decorate the front of my home. You can use these buntings for all American holidays, not just the Glorious Fourth. Buntings are perfect for almost any house and you can hang them under your windows if you don’t have a porch.
Rule # 2
ENJOYING YOUR FRIENDS
Summertime is lazy. When having friends over, I like to sit, chat, relax. I cook ahead and set a buffet with cold foods. We might throw some hamburgers and ribs on the grill, but no-fuss in the kitchen during the party is where I am at. After all, if I am having a friends over, I want to visit and enjoy being with them.
I love Plow & Hearth’s Adirondack chairs – a summertime favorite that comes in all colors, materials and sizes, but these red, white and blue chairs and side table are my favorites. They remind me of the buntings on our front porch yet they fit in with our New England home for the rest of the season.
ENJOY YOUR OWN DOWN TIME & SMALL SPACE LIVING
Even though I love relaxing outdoors as much as possible, not everyone is in the country. These are my three picks for country or city and cozy spaces.
These have become a real favorite – the hammock swing chair. If you are a reader, this is your new favorite reading spot in the garden or in a patio or deck area. Hang a couple of them off a branch or hook and relax! Just be careful when you sit in one of these… you WILL be tempted to fall asleep. What could be nicer than that on a warm summer afternoon?
I am a big fan of wicker. It is a light look and fits in smaller spaces. I like wicker inside all year round in a summer or Carolina room.
This bistro table and chair are my favorite, favorite, favorite pick for a small kitchen breakfast nook or a city terrace. The price on this is beyond super – try $199.95 for the set.
We were delighted to work with Plow & Hearth on this sponsored post, but truly, our opinions here are our own.
