The curtain went up on the world’s largest international furniture and accessory market in High Point, North Carolina last week. All and anyone connected to this industry was there, either on the selling or buying side of this major event. High Point Market happens twice a year in April and again in October. Everyone waits in anticipation for what’s new, what’s hot and what’s trending now, and every market there is always something exciting.
I must declare that I am not an interior designer who is into fads that are in today and gone tomorrow. My professional design philosophy that I have practiced for over 30 years and one that my clients depend on me for is very simple. Good, solid, classic design never goes out of style, whether traditional or contemporary!
So why go to High Point? Always and forever there will be a fresh new spin and interpretation to all things dealing with our interior spaces. How can I not know what this is? Looking at magazines, viewing online or on TV is wonderfully inspiring, but only by experiencing market can I truly know the pulse of my industry. Going to market energizes my creativity, especially seeing new products in fabulous displays that often literally stop traffic.
