Plaids & Jeans with a Twist

There are countless reasons why fall is the favorite season of so many. Crisp breezes, apple picking in the orchard and hot cider (with just a splash of spiced rum) are just a few seasonal temptations. So are my new style finds that invite you to embrace the warmth of the season. Here are some of my favorite fall must haves:

1. The Tartan Blanket Scarf: Let’s face it: it’s the season of snuggling. What’s better than a scarf that functionally is a blanket you can wear in public– all while looking stylish? Tartan plaids are all the rage and add a pinch of prep to any ensemble.

Beautiful Beige Booties: They’re the perfect footwear hybrid–more than a flat, less than a heavy knee-high boot. Booties are all the rage this season, especially in hues of light brown and beige, seen paired with everything from skirts to skinny jeans. Here: the Sam Edelman ‘Louie Boot’ or here.

Gold Dot Anything: What is it about these little metallic lovelies that are just so cheerful? I can’t get enough of gold dots right now. With the new year around the corner, I’m currently coveting this Kate Spade 2016 agenda covered in—you guessed it—gold dots!

2. The Pom Pom Hat: All you have to do is hop on over to Instagram and search #pomomhat to see this “haute” trend is taking over this pending cold season! As far as I’m concerned, faux is fabulous, so I’m crushing on this affordable cable knit cap with a faux fur pom pom to top it off from Kohl’s!

4. Flannel Shirts: Seriously? Didn’t we happily put this trend to bed after the 90’s grunge period?  I thought I did, but somehow I can’t resist the rich red and green traditional plaids, especially under a comfortable sweater or sweatshirt. I hunted for a fitted flannel to wear under this nautically-inspired New England sweatshirt by Talbots for a pop of color and found one at at my local Marshall’s.
