If you are like most people, you have your gift wrapping paper shoved in a closet or under the guest room bed and your kids do their homework on their bed or in their rooms.
It use to be the norm for kids to do their homework at the kitchen table. It was usually the only multi-use table in the house and was the ideal spot in so many other ways. If Mom was making dinner she was there to help out with questions and make sure that the homework was getting done.
It would be ideal to have one room or space that you can designate in your house JUST for your family’s activities. Perhaps there is an empty corner, a former playroom or part of the family room available. It is here you can help the kids with their homework (and make sure they are not playing games on their computers) and you can store you wrapping paper, sewing materials, and crafting supplies. While they are painting and creating, you can be scrapbooking or doing your own projects.
Wouldn’t it be great to have a ‘family room’ that is not meant for watching television? The best part is that it keep the mess confined to one place in your home and it organizes you, your kids and your house.
