All wheel drive

Nothing can replace that feeling that my family is safe driving the Sienna in all wheel drive

Here in New Hampshire, we will often estimate the distance from one place to another in a figure of time rather than miles. It’s a strange fact that the larger a family gets, the longer that twenty minute drive to the local grocery store can feel. So, making the right choice of your family vehicle is worth putting on your thinking cap. Some obvious things to consider might be safety, comfort, space, and convenience. These are worth mentioning, but what about acceleration, handling, fuel economy, style? Those are good points as well.

I knew when I started to drive that this was not the fake wood paneled minivan of my childhood.

As my own family grew in size, I began to consider the possibilities; armored personnel carrier – bad fuel economy; school bus – too flashy; stretch limo – might send the wrong signal at school. Then I was given the chance to test the new 2015 Toyota Sienna. Not really knowing what to expect and having an open mind, I took it for a spin.

The first thing to catch my attention was not just the cool style and modern look, but just how roomy the interior actually is with front captain’s chairs for me and the Mrs, plenty of room for our crew of 4 in second and third row seating, generously deep well storage in the rear and elbow room galore. After preparing our precious cargo we headed down the road. The acceleration from the 266 horsepower 3.5 liter V6 engine surprised me.  It went from a dead stop to sixty without any issue in what felt like the blink of an eye. The handling of the Sienna was amazing. It held the road more like a sedan than a minivan.

Quiet on the road and ergonomically accommodating, it strikes me as a well thought out family vehicle, easy to use without having to achieve a certificate in order to operate. As with most vehicles there are many package options which can be found on Toyota’s website, such as lounge seating, the duel view Blu-ray Disc entertainment system, or the available duel power sliding doors and rear lift gate that has become very popular in today’s vehicles (which in my opinion is priceless when you get home and just want the little darlings to get the heck out of the car)! Simply press the buttons and both sliders come open at just the right time for them to stampede out into the yard. However, there is one choice that sets this minivan apart from some others, and that is the available all-wheel-drive option. It’s a great addition for those of us who endure adverse road conditions or the impending doom of the coming winter.
