Sylvia Plath, The Bell Jar

Our personal book club

…is discussing Sylvia Plath’s The Bell Jar this month. This is one we’ve never read, even though it seems like it should have been required reading for two English majors. The Bell Jar chronicles the breakdown of Esther Greenwood: smart and talented but slowly falling apart — maybe for the last time. It is so well done that we feel like we’re falling into the same dark hole as Esther while we read. It is leaving us anxious and nervous and we just know it will lead to a great discussion!

Until next week, happy reading!
