AS THEY CELEBRATE SIZZLING HAMPTONS CUISINE
BY KAREN JONES
A premiere event of the Hamptons social season, Dan’s Taste of Summer brings together the finest food and drink on Long Island’s historic East End. In an area known for its many culinary delights, Dan’s delivers “the ultimate food event,” said Eric Feil, CEO and Editorial Director of Dan’s Papers, a venerable East End publication and event host.
Taste of Summer began in 2011 with Dan’s Taste of Two Forks— a celebration of regional cuisine, local chefs and Hamptons joie de vivre. “Dan’s Papers has always been very organic and authentic to the Hamptons experience,” Feil told TheDailyBasics.com. “We thought, why don’t we do an event that brings this all together and says ‘This is the Hamptons!’ ” With its signature mix of top local restaurants, celebrated chefs, and regional wineries seasoned with a breezy Hamptons vibe, it was an idea tailor made for an enthusiastic audience.
The venue proved so popular it has expanded into four events, each with its own celebrity chef at the helm this year: Adam Richman referees the grill in Dan’s GrillHampton on July 22; Alex Guarnaschelli hosts the signature Dan’s Taste of Two Forks on July 23; Marc Murphy turns up the heat at Dan’s Clambake MTK on July 30, and Geoffrey Zakarian officiates Dan’s Harvest East End on August 20.
“Celebrity chefs love the East End,” said Feil. “They like to be here with their fans and they themselves are fans of the food.” He adds that a portion of the proceeds from each event supports local charities.
