We first fell in love

…with Laura Lippman’s mystery series starring “accidental PI” Tess Monaghan. A new Tess book is always our first choice, but her stand alone novels are also masterful treats. This week we’re reading Wilde Lake, starring Luisa “Lu” Brant, the newly elected—and first female—state’s attorney of Howard County, Maryland, a job in which her father famously served. As she prepares to try one of her county’s few homicide cases, it dredges up memories of the time her brother killed a man to save his best friend’s life. He was found innocent, but Lu is starting to realize things weren’t exactly as they appeared. Mindy Kaling sums up Lippman’s writing best with this quote: ” I cannot focus on anything else when I am reading one of her books.” See you when we’re finished!

Until next week, happy reading!
