The Fashion Office – We’ve Got That Crystal Ball
by Ruth Staiman
Spring is around the corner. Time to perk up your style with something that says RIGHT NOW. It’s not about starting over every season. Build a foundation and add embellishments. The looks we’re showing are from high-end department stores: Bergdorf Goodman and Neiman Marcus. You can log onto the sites to buy the items shown or browse your favorite stores to find similar styles. These items are new for Spring, but all of them will stand the test of time.
Here’s what was on the runways and what has arrived in store for Spring 2012. I’ve picked a few themes that work for every age and figure. I’m showing runway shots from designer shows, photos from store sites and my own photographs. Many of these looks will be copied at every price level. You can embrace the whole look or just perk things up with an accessory or two.
Look for these trends to update your wardrobe. I’ve selected a few photos for three themes : Ladylike – The Right White – Bewitched & Bejeweled
Ladylike

Buy a chic suit, coatdress or sheath dress. I like brooches, so I always wear one. Add a black, nude or colorful pump or sandal and nude hose. Finish off the look with a chic clutch or top handle structured handbag. Dressing like a girl is back and it feels great. This trend brought to you courtesy of the Duchess Cambridge.
The Right White
Try wearing white and explore the angelic side of your personality. So many of us are perpetually in black. Almost every designer showed all white looks for Resort and Spring. You will have great options. If you can’t break out of the black, add white accessories as accents for a fresh look.

Bewitched & Bejeweled
Bling is everywhere, embellishing shoes, bags, clothing and of course jewelry. I like a little bit of bling on a tank neckline or on a shoe for daytime. A brooch is a great way to add bling. For Evening, the same holds true. Pick one blingy item. Don’t go overboard on this trend. Restraint is key.
